State Officer Bios

Si Cave is a senior at North Thurston High School and a three time state officer. He has served as the Capital Region Vice President and State Secretary for Washington State FBLA. As State President this year, Si has experience under his belt and is ready to lead Washington into a year of success and innovation. His recent venture took place in Orlando, Florida, as he ran a competitive campaign for FBLA National President. One of seven qualified candidates, his campaign was noteworthy and very inspirational. With the correct connections built, Si believes that his term in office can introduce new programs that will benefit Washington State FBLA all around. Si has completed the Future and Business Levels of the Business Achievement Awards. He plans on majoring in biology at a university in Washington or California. His life dream is to work as a reconstructive/micro surgeon.

Cori Rummel  is a senior at Fife High School and a second year state officer. After an exciting year serving as the 2010-11 State Vice President representing Peninsula Region, Cori is honored to serve as the 2011-12 State Secretary. She is active in her school`s National Honor Society, FBLA, student council, and theater program. She has been a member of FBLA for three years and a chapter officer for two years. Cori has received the Future and Business levels of the Business Achievement Awards. This past year she was the recipient of the South Puget Sound Outstanding Junior Award. She plans on attending a university, majoring in Accounting and Risk Management.

Number One FBLA Goal for the Year: To ensure a sense of pride for the organization in every member through a rewarding and exceptional experience throughout the entire year, concluded and celebrated at the 2012 State Business Leadership Conference.

Chantelle La Marr is a junior at Fife High School and a first year state officer. She is excited to serve as the 2011-12 State Public Relations Officer. She has been in FBLA for three years and has been a chapter officer for two. She first served as her chapter Secretary and is currently the Fife High School Chapter President. Chantelle has received the Future level of the Business Achievement Awards. Chantelle competed at NLC her freshman year in Electronic Career Portfolio and placed regionally in Intro to Business Communication and Client Service. She also serves as the Public Relations Officer of her school’s FCCLA and is actively involved in National Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, Key Club, district soccer, and theater productions. After she graduates, Chantelle wants to attend Columbia University and major in business management and marketing.

Number One FBLA Goal for the Year: Increase the likes on the state Facebook page to at least 1,500.

Ashley Sabin is a junior at Kittitas High School and a second year state officer. After a great year serving as the 2010-2011 State Vice President representing the North Central Region, Ashley is excited to serve as the 2011-2012 State Parliamentarian. She is active in her school’s FBLA, Student Council, FFA, volleyball, basketball, and track. She has been a member of FBLA for three years and a chapter officer for one year. This year Ashley will be serving as the Kittitas High School Chapter Parliamentarian. Ashley has received the Future level of the Business Achievement Awards. This year Ashley will also be serving as the Kittitas High School ASB President.

Joseph Kesting is a senior at Olympia High School and a first time state officer. He is excited to be serving as your State Vice President representing the Capital Region and has big plans for increased community service and membership. Joseph spends the rest of his time serving as the vice president for his school’s National Honor Society, participating as a peer educator in the Thurston County Teen Council, tutoring other students at various after school tutoring programs, and playing soccer with his friends. He hopes to attend Stanford University and double major in business management and biology.

Julianne Tanis is honored to serve this year as the Northwest Region Vice President.  She is a senior at Mt. Baker High School and attends Running Start at Whatcom Community College part time.  Julianne served as the 2010-2011 Treasurer for her local FBLA chapter, and chaired the chapter Community Service project supporting the Whatcom County Alternative Humane Society.  She earned first place with her team in Parliamentary Procedure at the 2011 Regional Winter Conference and earned third place in Accounting at the 2010 Regional Winter Conference.  In addition to FBLA, Julianne has been involved in videotaping and managing the boys’ varsity basketball team at Mt. Baker High School and working for the Whatcom County Parks and Recreation Department carrying out public events and races.

Number One FBLA Goal for the Year: Increasing membership through recruitment by 50% as well as introducing members in the Northwest Region to other members in the region.

Gabrielle Hall is a junior at Woodinville High School and serving her first year as a state officer. In the 2011-2012 school year, she will serve as the Vice President representing the West Central Region. She is active in her school’s Honor Society, FBLA, marching band, wind ensemble, and girls swim/dive team. Gabrielle has been a dedicated flute player since 5th grade and has played at a number of festivals and competitions. Outside of school she sings in her church choir. This will be Gabrielle’s second year as a member of FBLA. As a freshman, she received the President’s Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence.

Number one FBLA Goal for the year: Increase membership in local chapters and build relationships with each individual chapter. Gabrielle will be making chapter visits throughout the year, and she is excited to meet her region.

Favorite FBLA Activity: Pizza meetings with her local chapter (preparing for regional & state competitions).

Anthony Yun is honored to be your 2011-2012 Washington State Vice President representing the Midwest Region. He is a senior at Tahoma High School where he serves as the ASB Secretary.  Anthony is also active in Math Team, National Honor Society, and the Maple Valley Youth Council.  This year he is also serving as the Tahoma High School Chapter President for the second year. He plans on attending the University of Washington and majoring in Economics.

Nate Greason is a junior at Bainbridge Island High School, and is serving as the 2011-12 Vice President Representing the Peninsula Region. Nate is an active member of his high school’s National Honor Society, Knowledge Bowl team, and Sailing Team as well as FBLA. Outside of school Nate plays on his local hockey team, as well as volunteering as a hockey coach and referee. Nate has been a member of Bainbridge High School FBLA, serving one year as a chapter officer. In that time he has attended two National Business Leadership Conferences. He competed at Nationals in Business Procedures as a freshman and in Business Math as a sophomore.

Number One FBLA Goal for the Year: Set up a State Conference that is so incredible it makes people who hear about it wish they were part of FBLA.

Jessica Lawrence is a senior at Kittitas High School and currently serves as the Washington State Vice President representing the North Central Region. Along with FBLA, Jessica is also a member of National Honor Society, the FFA organization, Student Council, and Running Club and holds officer roles in each of them. Plus, as a three sport athlete, she plays volleyball, basketball, and runs track. She has been a member of FBLA for four years and chapter secretary for three years. She has placed 3rd in Public Speaking 1 and 3rd in Future Business Leader at the state level, and qualified for nationals in Emerging Business Issues. Jessica received member of the month in November 2010 for the State of Washington and was recognized at the 2011 State Business Leadership Conference as Member of the Year. Jessica plans on attending a university to gain the knowledge necessary for entering a hospitality management field and someday owning her own resort.

Number One FBLA Goal for the Year: A 50% increase in Washington State FBLA membership!

Malia Frame is a junior at Dayton High School and a first year officer. Malia is excited to have the honor of serving as the 2011-2012 State Vice President representing the Southeast Region. She plays three varsity sports—soccer, basketball, and softball—and is active in National Honor Society, Knowledge Bowl, FFA, and FBLA. This is Malia’s third year as a member of FBLA and is serving as Dayton High School Chapter President. She is also the Secretary of the FFA. Malia takes part in a musical ministry group called Salt and Light and is active in her local Younglife.

Erica Orth is a senior at Cheney High School and a first year state officer. This year, she was inspired to take on being the Washington State Vice President representing the Northeastern Region because of what she got out of heavy involvement in her chapter and attending the state conference for three years. She is an active member of FBLA, a four year varsity soccer player, a varsity cheerleader, and a three year varsity track participant at her school, as well as being senior class president. She has been involved in FBLA for four years and a chapter officer for two. This will be her second year enrolled as a full-time student at Eastern Washington University through running start. She plans to attend a university to major in Business Management and minor in Spanish.

Number one FBLA goal this year:  Recruit, recruit, recruit! Not just students who already have chapters at their school, but new chapters at schools with no FBLA chapter.

Josh McNeal is a junior at La Center high school and a first year state officer. After being an FBLA member for the past two years, Josh is extremely excited to be serving as your 2011-2012 Vice President Representing the Southwest Region. As well as being a state officer, Josh also has served as president in his local chapter of FBLA as well as being an active member of FBLA, Josh also participates in Honor Society, band, varsity football, varsity wrestling, and varsity track. Josh maintains a 4.0 GPA while taking honors classes and is currently planning on majoring in business.

Number One FBLA Goal for Year- To complete all state officer duties to the fullest of his abilities.
