Greetings Advisers and Happy Wednesday!
This will be your last update before SBLC. Our team begins traveling so Spokane on Sunday and we are very excited for conference! If you need assistance from me starting tomorrow, a text message will be the most effective way to reach me.
WA FBLA is providing a HD television (32 to 40 inches) for presentations that allow for projectors. We will provide HDMI cables only – if you need any other type of connection, it is your responsibility to bring those.
Volume on the televisions will be pre set at approximately 20% and should not be changed. Students changing volume settings on televisions will receive a 5 point penalty for not following directions.
Pipe & Drape:
A friendly reminder that the vast majority of our competitive events will be taking place in a pipe & drape environment this year, just like they do at NLC. If your students haven’t already been practicing in an environment that has distractions, now would be a great time to encourage them to do that!
Here’s how pipe and drape will work on Thursday:
Outside of Grand C at the Davenport, there will be check in desks. Students will need to check in at the appropriate desk for their event (they will be in NUMERICAL order based on what booths things are assigned to). When they check in, they will get a station card and be sent into Ballroom C – and they sit in a chair with a number matching their check in card. They remain in that chair until the event manager comes and gets them. They will then be escorted to the performance booth. Students may check in up to 45 minutes before their scheduled time.
If you have not heard yet from your regional adviser about your competitive event assignments for SBLC, please contact them. Every single one of you is needed to deliver our largest conference in over 10 years!
INB Performing Arts Center:
The INB, home to opening and closing sessions, campaigning, and the West Central Region Meeting, now has metal detectors at the doors. Students are strongly encouraged not to bring large bags, as they will be subject to inspection. They can carry their cell phones through – they should hold them over their heads so that the detectors will notice where the metal is and keep the lines moving quickly.
Role Play Finalists:
The finalists in role plays, Help Desk, and Parliamentary Procedure will be posted in the conference app at 2 p.m. next Wednesday. They will not be sent out via email, so please watch the app at 2 next Wednesday! In your chapter registration packets will be a new, complete chapter schedule sorted chronologically for your benefit.
SBLC Final Schedule:
Just like last year, there will not be a paper program. The conference app is available for download.
For those of you who really do rely on paper, at www.wafbla.org/sblc, the registration guide (at the top of the page) has been updated. It has all current times, rooms, and locations updated….the schedule that once was tentative is now final and available for your advance download.
Alumni Still Needed!
We still need alumni to volunteer and support us in the validation room. Please have them contact me directly if they are interested!
Emergency Medical/Code of Conduct Forms:
Several of you have asked where to find this, so it is attached for you again.
