Greetings Advisers and Happy Wednesday!
Executive Director Travel:
I will be out of the office and have extremely limited access to email and voice mail starting this Friday afternoon, February 3 at 12 noon through February 14, returning to the office on February 15. If you have an urgent need during this time, please call the office at 206.801.0009 and choose extension 2 for the first available teammate. If you have needs that can be supported in email, please reach out to Dawne Schmidt at email@example.com. There will be no weekly update next week while I am out of the office.
Washington FBLA Adviser Survey:
If you have not yet completed our first adviser survey, please do take about 5 minutes to do so. We are actively reviewing responses and they are greatly helpful in forward movement. The survey link is:
Some key take-a-ways we have so far from the survey include:
Executive Vice President/National Officer Candidate:
The Officers of the Board of Directors have decided that Washington FBLA WILL open the position of Executive Vice President this year. The materials are attached, and they are due on March 1. The only way to submit applications is via the online submission tool. Links are provided in the materials.
State Business Leadership Conference Registration/Information:
If you haven’t already shared our SBLC Keynote & Entertainment with your students, please do! Here’s Jaycob Curlee’s link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XxBRGE4lkeE
SBLC Registration Page:
The SBLC Page is now live! Please visit www.wafbla.org/sblc. There is a tutorial video that we encourage you to watch that will assist you in navigating the entire process. You may also now request your school site tests (production events) online at this page. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us!
Finalists in Role Play/Test Events:
The teams who advance to a presentation will not be announced until 5 p.m. on Wednesday of the State Business Leadership Conference. All other performance schedules will be available approximately 10 days before opening session.
Emerging Business Issues Reminder:
If you have students in Emerging Business Issues, please remember that this event changed this year – it is no longer a coin toss or card flip for affirmative or negative – teams should be presenting both sides of the topic.
Professional Division Silent Auction:
The Professional Division will again be holding a silent auction at SBLC to raise funds for the WA FBLA Scholarship. Introducing something new this year – we are encouraging chapters to create and bring a basket for the Silent Auction! And, there are prizes for the baskets raising the most money. Please see the attached flyer from the Professional Division for more information. The Auction Form is also included.
State Officer Corner:
Best of luck to the Northeast Region, West Central Region, and Puget Sound Region in your conferences this week! We hope competition goes well and everyone does their best!
Another reminder that canned food drive forms are due to your region VP by February 22nd and applications for state office are due the same day as well.
We understand the cost of State is always a concern for some students so an easy way to help those who need that additional help in funding their SBLC experience is to have them ask a local business for sponsorship. Have the students write a formal letter explaining why they are looking for funds and encourage them to visit the business in person in their formal attire!
Stay warm! Hope the beginning of 2017 was kind to you all!
