Washington Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) serves 4,000 students annually in becoming 21st-century business leaders and agents of change in their community. Today we highlight one of our alumni members who was a part of FBLA during all four years of high school and now is pursuing a Bachelors in Business Communications and serves on the Board of Directors for Washington FBLA
Connor had a very supportive advisor when he first joined, his advisor helped to push him towards joining FBLA for the benefit of Connor’s future. Connor soon realized that FBLA was really preparing him for life outside of high school regardless to if your end goal is college or not. During Connor’s time as a member with FBLA he gained soft skills for business, connected with mentors and business professionals to help him towards achieving his future goals, and making lifelong friendships with other members from across the nation. Connor says it best when he said “My participating in FBLA has helped me to become a more well-rounded individual and prepare me for my future.”
Connor’s best memory of his time with FBLA was being on stage at the State Business Leadership Conference (SBLC) as a freshman in high school and placing at the top against competitors from across Washington state in Client Service, and being able to then go on to compete at a national level against competitors across the United States. During Connor’s time he was also able to serve as one of the state officers to the organization. State officers are high school students who take up the role of aiding in the development of the organization and its programs to best support the members across Washington State. Connor expressed that it was an amazing learning experience that he wouldn’t have had anywhere else.
Currently, Connor attends Saint Martin’s University and has also established himself as a Residential and Commercial Real Estate Broker for RE/Max in Olympia, WA, as a sophomore in college. Additionally, Connor is still involved in Washington FBLA as he serves as a member of the Board of Directors and has taken up the charge as team lead for the FBLA Alumni Association (FBLA3). FBLA3 is a community for former FBLA members who wish to network, connect, volunteer, and participate in events throughout the year. If you are an alumni to FBLA or know of one, have them connect with Connor at firstname.lastname@example.org or visit http://www.fbla3.org/ to get signed up.
This year Washington FBLA is participating in GiveBig 2016. It's a day of giving that helps your donation stretch further.
